Do you use headphones?

Every day, yes.

My building is full of students, and the walls are pretty thin, so in the evenings I honestly can't hear myself think.

Basically, headphones are a lifesaver.

Trang feels the same, so we often sit there with ours on, working in complete silence.

What type of headphones do you use?

Just cheap wired earbuds.

Wireless ones are trendy, I know, but they need charging all the time.

Plus, a friend of mine lost one of hers within a week.

Wired ones are tried and tested, I'd say.

To be fair, the cable does get hopelessly tangled in my bag.

When would you use headphones?

Mostly for IELTS listening practice.

I put the same recording on repeat until I can catch every word, which gets pretty tedious.

Oh, and on my walks round the lake, I'll usually have a psychology podcast on.

So yeah, that's the fun part.

In what conditions would you not use headphones?

Obviously not on my electric bike.

Hanoi traffic is so unpredictable that I need to keep my wits about me.

And not when I'm out with friends, either.

I mean, wearing an earbud while someone's talking just seems rude.

I'd rather give them my undivided attention.
