What work do you do?

Well, I'm a software tester at a tech company in Da Nang.

Basically, my job is to break apps before real users do.

I check every new feature and report any bugs I find.

It might sound repetitive, but no two days are the same.

Why did you choose to do that type of work?

Honestly, I kind of fell into it.

I studied information technology, and just after I graduated, a friend said his team needed a tester.

I thought I'd give it a go for a few months.

That was four years ago, and I'm still here, so I guess it suits me.

Do you like your job?

Yes, most of the time.

I mean, I love solving puzzles, and my team is great, so work rarely feels like a chore.

Mind you, deadlines can be tough.

Before a big release, the pressure is on, and we sometimes stay until nine at night.

Do you have any plans for your work in the next five years?

Actually, yes.

I'd like to move into test automation, so I'm trying to get better at coding.

Longer term, I'm hoping to get a scholarship to do a master's abroad.

That's why I'm studying for IELTS.

Then again, I might end up working for a foreign company instead.

What technologies do you often use at work?

Mostly basic stuff, I'd say.

We log bugs in an online tracking tool, and I test apps on a drawer full of old and new phones.

Oh, and I wrote a small script to do the boring checks.

It's really come in handy, because it saves me hours every week.

That said, the tools change so fast that it's hard to keep up with them.
